Accessibility Services for Irish Television: Subtitles, ISL & Audio Description
VideoWorks have been providing Access Services in Ireland to some of Ireland’s leading broadcasters and organisations for the past number of years.
Specialising in delivering accessible content, we’ve helped production companies to make sure that people with hearing or sight impairments are able to get the most out of television content, including created with the assistance of th Coimisiún na Meán’s Sound & Vision scheme.
We are a one-stop shop providing Subtitles for the Deaf and Hard-of-hearing (Closed Captions), Irish Sign Language (ISL) Translation and Audio Description to high level delivery and fulfilling the regulatory requirements of broadcasters in Ireland.
In terms of Hard of Hearing / Access Subtitles, we can create an EBU .stl subtitle file which will include relevant speaker identification, sound effects, music cues and other meaningful audio information (rather than being dialogue-only subtitles).
In terms of Irish Sign Language, the ISL version, we can provide a full-legth programme incorporating an ISL interpreter on screen and deliver an AS-11 programme export.
In terms of Audio Description, we can record AD narration and a mixed audio-described version of the programme. This includes voice recording and final mix.
If you’re looking for one of the above services, or indeed looking for a package of services to fulfil your access requirements, do get in touch!!
